Floyd Mayweather Jr. Demands Alleged Vegas Assault Victim Pay His Legal Costs.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. is pushing back against a lawsuit that accuses him of orchestrating an attack on a man who filmed him jogging in Las Vegas. The boxing legend, 47, has denied all allegations and is now asking a judge to dismiss the case—and make the alleged victim pay his legal fees.

Mayweather Denies All Allegations

According to court documents obtained by Lawyer Monthly, Mayweather has asked a Las Vegas judge to throw out the claims made by William Rodriguez-Mercado. The lawsuit, filed in July 2024, alleges that Mayweather instructed members of his entourage to assault Rodriguez-Mercado for filming him in the early hours of May 31, 2023.

Mayweather, however, denies any wrongdoing. His legal team argues that any injuries William sustained were due to his own negligence or actions beyond Mayweather’s control.

It seems like with each day, there’s a new piece of news released that notes some money-related escapade, investment, or celebration that Mayweather is taking part in. And that was the case once again on March 12 with a unique Instagram post from the 15-time boxing world champion.

Mayweather announced a new slot game that’s named after him.

Perhaps it should not come as a surprise that Mayweather is getting involved in a gambling app, as he’s a shrewd businessman who always has a knack for knowing where there’s more cash to be made.

It will be interesting to see how Mayweather continues to promote this app, and whether he shows any proof of him playing it himself. While he is known to place massive bets on sports games, there isn’t much evidence that he’s also fond of slot machines.

Although that doesn’t mean he can’t start a little bit late while doing so through the comfort of his own phone.

Floyd Mayweather has shown off his new $402million purchase as his splurge into real estate has continued.

The American boxing legend has amassed a huge fortune from his time in the spotlight, including generating a record-breaking $1.2billion in total earnings from his boxing career.

Since his time in the professional ranks ended, Mayweather has continued to generate huge wealth despite no longer earning his lucrative purses.

And he recently announced that he would make his most expensive ever investment, acquiring 60 buildings in the Manhattan area, to expand his New York City property empire.

The value of the properties combined is $402m, and he has big plans to continue his investment in estate in the coming years.

Mayweather today confirmed he had officially become the owner of the 60 properties with the sale being fully completed.

Mayweather’s portfolio is believed to be just the start as he looks to continue to build an empire of businesses.

He even posted a picture of a trophy confirming the $402m sale, with signature from the seller.

Since retiring from the sport in 2017, Mayweather has continued to spend big.

His fortune certainly hasn’t dried up, with boxing exhibitions against the likes of Deji and Logan Paul having generated multi-million paydays.

As a result, he has continued to live a lavish lifestyle which includes by throwing a week long party for his recent 48th birthday.

Despite putting down his gloves as a professional, his fortune continues to grow each year.

And astonishingly he claimed he makes $300m per month even in the current climate.

He said: “I will continue to give back to the sport of boxing in my time, and I will also give back financially because I got it.

“To my team, my guys in New York, and my other real estate team that’s here today, we can’t be stopped.

“In 32 months, I put myself in a position with a smart business team to make $300m a month. It all started from the sport of boxing.”

Floyd Mayweather is one of the most self-confident figures in any sport, and he has never been shy about stating his claim for being considered the greatest boxer of all time.

While many might name a heavyweight icon such as Muhammad Ali or a prime Mike Tyson as the most skilled and fearsome fighter in the sport’s history, Mayweather’s résumé is extremely impressive.

The 48-year-old retired with a perfect record of 50 wins and no losses after a 10th-round TKO win over UFC superstar Conor McGregor in 2017.

Across his 21-year career, he recorded 27 knockouts and won 15 major world titles spanning five weight classes, from super featherweight to light middleweight.

He was named the Boxer of the Decade for the 2010s by the Boxing Writers’ Association of American and he was twice named Ring magazine’s Fighter of the Year.

In 2016, ESPN ranked Mayweather the greatest boxer of the past 25 years.

“I knew from the very beginning I was the best in boxing, from day one,” Mayweather said in an interview to promote an exhibition bout with YouTuber Jake Paul in 2021.

“I just knew I was better than every other fighter. And to this day, there will never be another fighter better than me. Never.

“You tell me another fighter that beat 16 world champions straight. Just tell me. That’s all I ask.

“I was world champion 20 years.”

Mayweather also defended his decision to take on Paul in the exhibition fight, which – as it was unscored – ended in a draw after eight rounds.

“I would [rather] have the currency than the legacy, my legacy is already engraved in stone,” he said.

“They say, ‘Mayweather’s doing exhibitions, it’s bad for boxing.’

“At the end of the day, my mother’s a millionaire, my dad’s a millionaire, my children are millionaires.

“My little [five-month-old] grandson is a multi-millionaire and he don’t even know it.

Floyd Mayweather was not only the top pound-for-pound fighter of his era, but perhaps one of the greatest in history. Now retired, he is best placed to pick the heir to his throne.

‘Money’ Mayweather hung up the gloves in 2017 with a perfect 50-0 record having demonstrated some of the most impressive defensive skills boxing fans have ever witnessed throughout his campaign.

With statement wins over the likes of Manny Pacquiao, Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez and Oscar De La Hoya, the five-weight world champion has seen, and beaten, every style.

Many have made their case in this current crop, and Canelo was most convincing for some years. Over the last twelve months, three names have run clear of the rest: Oleksandr Usyk, Terence Crawford and Naoya Inoue.

All three are two-weight undisputed champions. For his money, Mayweather backs Crawford as the best, as confirmed in an interview with Brian Mazique.

“I think Terence Crawford, right now in the sport of boxing, is the pound-for-pound best fighter. It’s good to see him in the position that he’s in … Terence Crawford, continue to be great.”

Switch-hitting Crawford is a four-weight world champion from lightweight to super-welterweight, but will soon attempt to make that five by packing on 14 pounds to face unified super-middleweight king Canelo. Should he win when they face off in Las Vegas this September, there will be much less debate around whether or not he is the very best fighter in the world.
