During the Phoenix Suns’ game against the Minnesota Timberwolves on March 3, Kevin Durant made a surprising choice when asked to name his favorite female athlete for Women’s Empowerment Month.

Durant named Angel Reese, the rising WNBA star, as his all-time favorite, sparking speculation about the nature of their relationship.

Although Reese is just starting her professional career-having completed only one season with the Chicago Sky-her impact has been significant.

In her rookie year, Reese averaged 13.6 points and 13.1 rebounds per game, setting a rookie record with 23 double-doubles, including an astounding WNBA-record 15 consecutive double-doubles.

Shields opted to keep the heavyweight title that she earned last month.

Claressa Shields will remain the World Boxing Organization’s Female Heavyweight champion after vacating her light heavyweight title.

Shields was prompted to choose which of her two titles to keep as a WBO rule forbids boxers from holding multiple at once. WBO President Gustavo Olivieri shared the update on X on March 3.

“Be advised Claressa Shields has relinquished her WBO Lt. Heavyweight title,” Olivieri wrote. “Per our rules, NO WBO Champion may hold titles in two different weight divisions simultaneously. Therefore, Shields remains Champion in Heavyweight division.”

Shields opted to earn the vacant heavyweight title during a match against Danielle Perkins on Feb. 2. After an unanimous win over Perkins, the 29-year-old became the undisputed heavyweight champion.

Shields’ rise in boxing was the recent subject of the biopic The Fire Inside,. Ryan Destiny starred as the acclaimed boxer alongside Brian Tyree Henry. The film depicted her rise to winning an Olympic gold medal.

The Flint, Michigan, native currently has a 16-0 record with three knockouts.

However, Shields faced controversy after Michigan’s athletic commission stated that she tested positive for marijuana after her recent match. Despite the outcome, Shields said that she does not use the drug, which also is not performance-enhancing.

Instead, she believes the positive result may stem from second-hand smoke or close-contact with others on fight night. She discussed the incident on the Tamron Hall Show.

“The place reeked of marijuana,” Shields said of the fight’s site, the Dort Financial Center. “And then, before I got to do the mouth swab, everybody was hugging and kissing me in Flint. Everybody there—my cousins, sister, brother, friends—everybody was hugging and kissing me. And I know some boxers don’t stop and greet the fans, but I’m not one of them. I hugged and kissed everybody back.”

Currently, Shields remains prohibited from fighting in Michigan. With the threat of losing her newly-acquired belt looming, she has since appealed the suspension. According to a WBO notice, she has 30 days to clear her name.

Paul is looking to fight anyone, first he tried Canelo now Davis

Jake Paul has never shied away from controversy, and his latest antics prove he’s still swinging for the fences-both literally and figuratively. Fresh off his widely panned exhibition bout against Mike Tyson in November 2024, which pitted the 27-year-old YouTube star against the 58-year-old legend, Paul’s reputation remains a lightning rod. The Netflix-streamed clash drew 60 million households but left fans and critics groaning – Paul landed 77 punches to Tyson’s 27, but the age gap and Tyson’s sluggishness made it feel more like a sparring session than a fight. Paul also tried to bait Canelo Alvarez into a showdown, but the Mexican champ brushed him off, leaving Paul to look for his next big payday. Love him or hate him, Paul is a cash cow: His boxing ventures, business deals (like his energy drink and clothing lines), and social media clout have made him a fortune. But taking on the former YouTuber-turned-fighter? It’s a quick ticket to fame and fortune, sure-but the stench of his polarizing persona can tarnish even the toughest boxer’s reputation.

Paul’s Cardboard Clash with Davis’ Cutout

Paul’s latest post shows him shadowboxing a life-size cardboard cutout of Gervonta “Tank” Davis on an airport tarmac with the caption, “He’s lucky it wasn’t me in there. Dressed in a blue T-shirt and shorts, Paul jabs and ducks around the cutout, playing up the drama as the sun sets behind him. It’s classic Paul: absurd, attention-grabbing, and clearly a jab at Davis, the WBA lightweight champion, to lure him into a fight.

Thank you for watching

The problem is, the weight classes are galaxies apart – Paul, a cruiserweight, clocks in around 200 pounds, while Davis, a lightweight, rarely tips 135. Davis, 30, boasts a flawless 30-0 record (28 KOs) with a 58.3% knockout rate and titles in three divisions since turning pro in 2013. His recent draw with Lamont Roach last month showed he’s still lethal, landing 84 of 227 punches (37%) despite a cagey fight. Paul’s fight stats? A modest 10-1 (7 KO) against mostly aging or unranked opponents – Tyson, Anderson Silva, and Nate Diaz don’t compare to Davis’ elite resume. It’s like pitting a pickup truck against a Formula One racer-Davis would likely flatten Paul, whose defense is shaky and whose pro experience lacks the polish of a champ like Tank.

The Pauls’ Wild Reality Show Ride

Now, Jake and his brother Logan are taking their chaos to a new arena: reality TV. Jake tweeted about their upcoming show, “Unscripted. Unfiltered. Unhinged, promising a raw look at their lives – boxing, business and all the drama in between. Expect bare-knuckle honesty: Jake’s trash-talking, Logan’s wrestling antics, and their knack for making headlines, like Paul’s Davis cutout antics or Logan’s bizarre KSI face-off.

The unhinged vibe suggests plenty of cringe-worthy moments – think Paul plotting his next fight or the brothers bickering over endorsements – but also a look inside their empire-building, from Jake’s $40 million net worth to Logan’s stake in Prime energy drink. The reality is knowing how unfiltered they both are and the limitless production the show can have, it’s sure to have some funny parts. They will also probably show their more sensitive side towards people, I don’t doubt that there will be tears from one of the brothers.

This could lead up to a huge fight

The world of boxing has always been filled with rivalries, but the tension between Shakur Stevenson and Gervonta Davis has recently reached a boiling point. The animosity between the two lightweight champions came to light during a recent interview on the Cigar Talk podcast hosted by Naji Chill.

During the interview, Stevenson, the WBC lightweight champion, opened up about the origins of their strained relationship and how it has evolved over time. Stevenson and Davis share a history that dates back to their amateur days. Although they were never close, there was mutual respect between them.

However, as Stevenson began racking up victories in the professional circuit, the dynamics shifted. According to Stevenson, the root cause of their fallout lies in the comparisons drawn between him and Davis. Stevenson claims that as his name started gaining traction and popularity, Davis’s attitude towards him changed.

“When I first was around the n**ga, he was showing a lot of love. And then once I became a threat, is where like everything switched over, once like people start talking about me and my name started getting bigger then it was like ‘I’ll go fight, I’ll get on Twitter’,” Stevenson said.

A new dynamic after this

The sudden change in Davis’s behavior left Stevenson taken aback. He initially believed that they were on good terms but gradually realized that Davis’s actions were driven by insecurity. “I think like in his brain, it’s just one person and nobody else could be up here too,” Stevenson stated.

Despite the ongoing tension, Stevenson has consistently pushed for a match with both the WBA and WBC lightweight titles on the line. However, Davis has repeatedly rejected the idea. Interestingly, a recent interview with Davis’s coach has introduced a new twist to the narrative, suggesting that a potential showdown might be on the horizon.

The boxing community is eagerly awaiting a resolution to this rivalry, and fans are hopeful that the two champions will finally face off in the ring. A match between Stevenson and Davis would not only settle their differences but also provide a thrilling spectacle for boxing enthusiasts worldwide.

The new boxing novel generated by the controversial result with which Gervonta Davis was saved from losing the WBA lightweight title to Lamont Roach Jr. gave an episode of the plot for last Saturday’s fight at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn with an analysis by Jeff Mayweather, who without launching an accurate attack against Tank, bluntly assures that if a boxer kneels, according to the rules that should be counted as a knockdown.

Floyd Mayweather‘s uncle gave his opinion during his participation in The Mayweather Channel, where he reflected on the controversy that could have tipped the scales in favor of Lamont Roach Jr, after the majority draw that the judges saw and that already caused the New York State Athletic Commission to open an investigation.

“If we go by the rules of boxing, it was a knockdown. That’s what they’re doing. They’re boxing, so yes, it’s supposed to be counted as a knockdown,” said Jeff Mayweather.

Lamont Roach has already demanded that he be given the victory, after the close scores of 115-113 and 114-114 on two occasions, so with the point that should have been deducted as a knockdown to Tank Davis for kneeling in the ninth round, it could have tilted the decision in his favor, instead of the majority draw.

During the ninth round, Roach appeared to land a jab to Davis‘ eye, who reacted and took his gloves to his face, then knelt on the canvas and approached his corner for help, where he was wiped with a towel around his eye. Gervonta explained that grease got in his eye.

Lamont Roach’s punch was not meant to knock out Gervonta Davis

Floyd Mayweather’s uncle continued with his reflection, and although it is clear that the blow that Lamont Roach was not to knock down Gervonta Davis, Tank made a mistake that had to be sanctioned by the referee, so that the judges reflected it on the scorecards, ie, the ninth round should have been marked 10-8., which would have changed the result of majority draw.

“One thing in boxing is that there are punches that hit people and then there is a delayed reaction. I wouldn’t say that because I don’t think the punch was that hard. It wasn’t a knockout punch or anything like that,” the 60-year-old former boxer said, adding: “But still, when you consider doing that on your own, you’re supposed to be penalized for it.”

The pair sat down to announce via a video posted to social media that fans who buy the game are in with a chance of playing against KSI.

But that wasn’t the only reason for their meeting.

“At the same time I challenge him to fight someone in America,” said Alalshikh.

“We will discuss, me and him, about future opponents.

“But real fighters. Real boxers. Not 60 years old.”

KSI appeared to take a jab at Jake Paul’s controversial crossover clash with 58-year-old Mike Tyson, by saying: “Nah, I don’t. There is only one person who does that.”

Alalshikh replied: “There is a famous guy in England who is 79 years old and he is famous in boxing.

“I could talk with him, I have a great relationship with him, if anyone wants to use him.”

Once again, KSI shifted the focus back onto his bitter rival, saying: “I’m sure there is one guy who would love to take that opportunity for sure.”

Alalshikh went on to suggest that KSI’s fight could land on the Ring Magazine card he has planned for San Francisco’s Alcatraz Prison this summer.

“I am talking with him now and surprising him as well at the same time about doing something at Alcatraz jail in San Francisco in the future,” he added.

To which, KSI replied: “Yeah, I am very excited to see what happens.

“We have got some big things happening man.”

The former maximum security federal prison is situated on the Island of Alcatraz, located 1.25 miles from the coast of San Francisco.

It is no longer in use and has been closed since 1963, although the site has been converted to a museum which welcomes 1.5 million visitors through its doors every year.

According to Ring Magazine, Alalshikh is close to securing a deal to host the first ever boxing event at the prison, with WBO super lightweight champion Teofimo Lopez set to headline in June or July.

Lopez’s opponent was not named in the report, although a mandatory defence against Arnold Barboza Jr or a unification bout with IBF title holder Richardson Hitchins are said to be the two most likely options.

Floyd Mayweather has shown off his new $402million purchase as his splurge into real estate has continued.

The American boxing legend has amassed a huge fortune from his time in the spotlight, including generating a record-breaking $1.2billion in total earnings from his boxing career.

Since his time in the professional ranks ended, Mayweather has continued to generate huge wealth despite no longer earning his lucrative purses.

And he recently announced that he would make his most expensive ever investment, acquiring 60 buildings in the Manhattan area, to expand his New York City property empire.

The value of the properties combined is $402m, and he has big plans to continue his investment in estate in the coming years.

Mayweather today confirmed he had officially become the owner of the 60 properties with the sale being fully completed.

“Just showing you a little glimpse of my portfolio.”

Mayweather’s portfolio is believed to be just the start as he looks to continue to build an empire of businesses.

He even posted a picture of a trophy confirming the $402m sale, with signature from the seller.

Since retiring from the sport in 2017, Mayweather has continued to spend big.

His fortune certainly hasn’t dried up, with boxing exhibitions against the likes of Deji and Logan Paul having generated multi-million paydays.

As a result, he has continued to live a lavish lifestyle which includes by throwing a week long party for his recent 48th birthday.

Despite putting down his gloves as a professional, his fortune continues to grow each year.

And astonishingly he claimed he makes $300m per month even in the current climate.

He said: “I will continue to give back to the sport of boxing in my time, and I will also give back financially because I got it.

“To my team, my guys in New York, and my other real estate team that’s here today, we can’t be stopped.

“In 32 months, I put myself in a position with a smart business team to make $300m a month. It all started from the sport of boxing.”

Floyd Mayweather is one of the most self-confident figures in any sport, and he has never been shy about stating his claim for being considered the greatest boxer of all time.

While many might name a heavyweight icon such as Muhammad Ali or a prime Mike Tyson as the most skilled and fearsome fighter in the sport’s history, Mayweather’s résumé is extremely impressive.

The 48-year-old retired with a perfect record of 50 wins and no losses after a 10th-round TKO win over UFC superstar Conor McGregor in 2017.

Across his 21-year career, he recorded 27 knockouts and won 15 major world titles spanning five weight classes, from super featherweight to light middleweight.

He was named the Boxer of the Decade for the 2010s by the Boxing Writers’ Association of American and he was twice named Ring magazine’s Fighter of the Year.

In 2016, ESPN ranked Mayweather the greatest boxer of the past 25 years.

“I knew from the very beginning I was the best in boxing, from day one,” Mayweather said in an interview to promote an exhibition bout with YouTuber Jake Paul in 2021.

“I just knew I was better than every other fighter. And to this day, there will never be another fighter better than me. Never.

“You tell me another fighter that beat 16 world champions straight. Just tell me. That’s all I ask.

“I was world champion 20 years.”

Mayweather also defended his decision to take on Paul in the exhibition fight, which – as it was unscored – ended in a draw after eight rounds.

“I would [rather] have the currency than the legacy, my legacy is already engraved in stone,” he said.

“They say, ‘Mayweather’s doing exhibitions, it’s bad for boxing.’

“At the end of the day, my mother’s a millionaire, my dad’s a millionaire, my children are millionaires.

“My little [five-month-old] grandson is a multi-millionaire and he don’t even know it.

The former WTA No. 1 was ready for a well-deserved vacation after dazzling at halftime of the Super Bowl.

Serena Williams was ready for some well-earned relaxation after her surprise cameo at the Super Bowl halftime show, where she stormed the stage during Kendrick Lamar’s performance, setting social media on fire. But her much-anticipated girls’ trip took an unfortunate twist-leaving the tennis icon battling illness instead of basking in the sun.

Williams initially appeared to be living her best life, sharing a sun-kissed snap from her getaway, draped in a chic green-and-white bikini top with matching accessories. “Unfiltered untouched magic at magic hour #girlstrip,” she captioned.

An untimely illness ruined Serena Williams' vacation.

However, just as her fans envied her vacation glow, she hit them with an unexpected update: she had been sick the entire time! Taking to X (formerly Twitter), she wrote, “Girls trip and sick the entire time?”-a sentiment anyone who’s had their holiday plans derailed could relate to.

Serena does not let health problems defeat her

Despite the setback, Serena remains the definition of resilience. The 43-year-old has faced her fair share of health struggles over the years-from a pulmonary embolism in 2011 to childbirth complications in 2017 and even undergoing surgery to remove a large cyst in 2024.

Yet, she continues to power through life’s challenges with the same determination that made her a 23-time Grand Slam champion. Williams has long been vocal about the difficulties of balancing work, motherhood, and personal time.

Serena is synonymous with resilience

Even after stepping away from professional tennis, she admits the juggling act hasn’t gotten any easier. But her mantra remains the same: “Resilience is something that you kind of just have to stand up and do.”

Whether she’s dominating on the court, expanding her business empire, or dealing with an unexpected vacation disaster, Serena Williams never backs down. Even a ruined girls’ trip won’t keep her down for long!
