Jake Paul has promised that for her upcoming July 11 trilogy fight against Katie Taylor, Amanda Serrano will become “the highest-paid woman in sports history for a single event.” The previous record, according to Paul, was held by former UFC and WWE star Ronda Rousey, who got paid just south of $5 million to face Amanda Nunes back in 2016.
Paul’s ‘Most Valuable Promotions’, of course, represents Serrano, who has signed a lifetime deal with them. And while this trilogy card, which would be an all-female card, would be a big achievement not just for Serrano but for female boxing in general, the GWOAT, Claressa Shields, has some harsh words for her Puerto Rican counterpart.
“I only talk to undefeated fighters! If you’re not undefeated, please don’t talk to me! I’m bout to call Mayweather 🏆👸🏾👑,” Claressa Shields wrote on X. To this, a fan claimed that MMA superstar and her long-time rival, Cris Cyborg, had called Serrano the GWOAT. “You see cyborg calling serrano the gwoat? You gotta step down and get at her,” the fan wrote. We cannot find this quote attributed to Cyborg, but ‘T-Rex’ remained undeterred and laughed off the prospect of Serrano being the GWOAT. “She not undefeated either 😂😂,” Shields added.
Shields, of course, is undefeated and has a pro boxing record of 16-0, while Serrano is 47-3 in her career so far, with two of those losses coming to Taylor. But on the other hand, Shields is dealing with her own issues.
