Acclaimed pianist Neil Cowley, who will perform at Aberdeen Jazz Festival, played piano on Adele hits including Rolling in the Deep.

Legendary jazz musician Neil Cowley provided piano on an unknown teenager’s debut album and never imagined her fame would explode globally.

That teenager was Adele and the album 19 which would go on to sell 8.5 million copies worldwide following its release in 2008.

Cowley would also appear on Adele’s 2011 follow up album 21, playing piano on Rolling in the Deep.

It is the biggest selling album of the 21st century and held the number one position in the American billboard charts for 24 straight weeks.

Cowley admits he initially feared his appearance on Adele’s chart-topping smashes would overshadow his own music

Those concerns quickly dissipated as he racked up a string of influential albums with the Neil Cowley Trio and also as a solo artist.

Playing piano on Rolling in the Deep

The Neil Cowley Trio will headline The Blue Lamp on Friday, March 14 as part of Aberdeen Jazz Festival.

Cowley said: “There was a worry as to whether the Adele stuff would interfere with the picture I’m trying to portray in terms of the amount of love I put into music.

“I spend every single day of my existence worrying and wondering about the output of the Neil Cowley Trio

“And I did the Adele stuff in about five minutes flat.

“Yet the worldwide impact of that five minutes has meant I’ve sat in restaurants for the past 15 years listening to myself on Adele songs.

“That’s just the nature of those pieces of music.

“I used to worry about it.

“Now I’m confident enough that enough time has passed and I’ve created enough of a legacy with the Trio that it barely touches me now.

“I just think it was a moment in time and is now something for me to talk about at dinner parties.”

Cowley has been a key member of the Brand New Heavies and also played piano for Emile Sandé and Michael Kiwanuka.

Neil Cowley Trio return after hiatus

He formed the Neil Cowley Trio in 2005 with the ensemble releasing six acclaimed albums across a 12 year period.

In 2017  Cowley paused the trio to embrace electronica and neo-classical production.

He would go on to release ground-breaking albums Hall of Mirrors and Battery Life.

Last year the pianist pressed the un-pause button on the trio and the superb album Entity followed.

The 52-year-old said: “It is beautiful to be back with them and I don’t know why the wait was so long.

“When I did the electronica music I felt strangely sad and melancholy when I sat in the dressing rooms on my own before gigs,

“I thought there’s something missing here and it was the same when I was on stage.

“Then I realised it was the other two guys in the band.

“To just have that humanity to bounce off and buzz off.

“Having two people who share the same level of excitement as myself is great, especially when on the road.

“Being with two dear friends is a lovely way to travel.

“We never had a row, I just wanted to do something else.

“But now that we’re back it’s great.”

The ‘strange DNA’ of Neil Cowley Trio

It would become one of the the festivals fastest selling shows of the year.

Pianist Cowley said: “When we first got back together there was a little rust in the air but it only lasted about two hours.

“After that I realised this is absolutely fine,

“We always instinctively understood each other’s musicality.

“Maybe I hadn’t realised what an incredibly special thing it is

“I certainly do now.

“We fell back into it so easily because we have this inherent thing, this strange DNA between us.”

This is the embarrassing moment three bungling thieves filmed themselves singing along to Adele whilst they committed burglaries in stolen cars.

Stevie Lakin, 20, Declan Dale, 22, Mason Wall, 18, were arrested after police traced a tablet device inside the van they had stolen to South Kirkby, West Yorkshire, in the early hours of August 8, 2024.

Footage taken by the men shows them inside a stolen Mitsubishi car, which they refer to as a ‘rammer’, as they strain their voices singing Adele’s Someone Like You.

West Yorkshire police jokingly put a warning before the video which read: ‘The following video contains singing which may be harmful to your ears.’

Showing all three of their mugshots, the force poked fun at them again, writing: ‘Unfortunately for these burglars the someone we found was them.’

Police found videos and photographs of them with with cars and other items they had stolen, this time singing along to Rihanna‘s We Found Love.

A more sinister video found on their phones show them filming themselves as they broke into someone’s home in the middle of the night to steal what appears to be a handbag.

One of them can be heard whispering: ‘Take your time’ to the other who is climbing through the window.

They were also caught speeding in the cars they had stolen, reaching speeds of up to 160mph.

Police are still trying to indentify the two other men in the footage and have urged anyone who knows them to come forward by contacting them online or calling 101.

Lakin, Dale and Wall pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit burglary dwelling with the intent to steal, one count of burglary dwelling, two counts of attempt burglary dwelling and three counts of theft of a motor vehicle.

The conspiracy to commit burglary dwelling charge includes 37 burglaries in Pontefract, Upton, South Elmsall, Castleford, South Kirkby, Wakefield, Hemsworth, Skellow, Barnsley and Crofton between November 30, 2023, and August 6, 2024.

The other offences occurred in South Kirkby and Upton in August 2024.

All three appeared at Leeds Crown Court on March 6 where Lakin was sentenced to nine years and six months in jail.

Dale received two years and eight months and Wall was handed three years and four months.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. Demands Alleged Vegas Assault Victim Pay His Legal Costs.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. is pushing back against a lawsuit that accuses him of orchestrating an attack on a man who filmed him jogging in Las Vegas. The boxing legend, 47, has denied all allegations and is now asking a judge to dismiss the case—and make the alleged victim pay his legal fees.

Mayweather Denies All Allegations

According to court documents obtained by Lawyer Monthly, Mayweather has asked a Las Vegas judge to throw out the claims made by William Rodriguez-Mercado. The lawsuit, filed in July 2024, alleges that Mayweather instructed members of his entourage to assault Rodriguez-Mercado for filming him in the early hours of May 31, 2023.

Mayweather, however, denies any wrongdoing. His legal team argues that any injuries William sustained were due to his own negligence or actions beyond Mayweather’s control.

The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon

What Happened That Night?

Rodriguez-Mercado claims that on May 31, 2023, he spotted Mayweather jogging with a woman on a Las Vegas sidewalk. Recognizing the boxing icon, he stopped to watch.

As Mayweather and his companion approached, Rodriguez-Mercado began filming. He alleges that Mayweather became enraged and ordered his entourage, who were following in SUVs, to seize his phone.

The lawsuit states:

“[Floyd], upon realizing that he was being filmed, became enraged and immediately confronted [William]. [Floyd] yelled to the occupants of the SUVs that, ‘HE’S FILMING. TAKE HIS F–KING PHONE. GET HIM.’”

Rodriguez-Mercado claims that multiple men rushed him. One allegedly said, “Nobody ever rushes the champ like that.”

Brutal Attack and Death Threats Alleged

According to the lawsuit, Rodriguez-Mercado was struck in the face and knocked unconscious. He does not recall how long the attack lasted but says Mayweather watched before fleeing.

The alleged victim also claims that after the assault, Mayweather’s team took his phone and continued driving while he lay on the ground. Once he regained consciousness, he realized he was bleeding. Moments later, he alleges that a car pulled up and he was told to get in—or he would be killed.

Fearing for his life, Rodriguez-Mercado says he ran to a nearby 7-Eleven and called the police, but officers never arrived. He alleges that the car continued circling the area before eventually leaving.

Severe Injuries and Lasting Impact

Rodriguez-Mercado claims he suffered serious injuries to his head, face, limbs, and organs, some of which may be permanent. He also alleges that the attack has led to:

  • Medical expenses
  • Loss of wages and earning capacity
  • Physical impairment
  • Mental anguish
  • Loss of enjoyment of life

The lawsuit seeks damages for these losses.

Mayweather’s Legal Response: Dismissal & Attorney Fees

Mayweather’s legal team is not only demanding the case be dismissed but is also pushing for Rodriguez-Mercado to cover Mayweather’s legal expenses. This move suggests a strong stance against the claims, reinforcing Mayweather’s argument that he played no role in the alleged attack.

Another Lawsuit Against Mayweather

This is not the only legal battle Mayweather is facing. He is also being sued by Eduardo Andres Torres Martinez, who claims that Mayweather ordered an attack on him at Yard House in L.A. Live on February 10, 2022. According to Torres Martinez, he began filming Mayweather at the restaurant, which allegedly led to Mayweather instructing his bodyguard to assault him.

Mayweather has denied all allegations in both cases.

What’s Next?

The outcome of Rodriguez-Mercado’s lawsuit remains uncertain, but Mayweather’s aggressive legal defense indicates he plans to fight it vigorously. As both cases continue, the boxing legend faces increasing scrutiny over allegations of violent retaliation against those who film him in public.

For now, Mayweather is standing firm—denying all claims and demanding that his accuser foot the bill for his legal battle.

If you’re a die-hard boxing fan, you know Floyd Mayweather didn’t just grow a business empire—he built it from scratch. Born into a tough world,  battling poverty, young Floyd had no choice but to grow up fast. By 16, he was the man of the house, fighting his way—literally and figuratively—out of hardship. Now, with a 50-0 undefeated record and hundreds of millions rolling in from his business ventures, you’d think he’d leave his struggles in the past. But you’d be wrong. Money Mayweather respects the hustle no matter where he sees it. Even if it comes from people with whom he’s had issues.

Yup, we’re talking about Logan Paul and Jake Paul. Despite their past beef, Mayweather recently revealed what he actually respects about them. And it’s not just their ability to stir up controversy.

Floyd Mayweather tips his hat

In an exclusive interview with US Weekly yesterday, Floyd Mayweather was busy promoting his new One Of One supplement product line. But in the middle of discussing his issues with Jake Paul and the possibility of an exhibition fight with the Problem Child, Money Mayweather dropped an unexpected truth bomb—he actually respects something about the Paul brothers. “One thing about Jake Paul and Logan Paul, we can’t knock their hustle,” Mayweather revealed.

“I take my hat off. I like how they hustle,” the 48-year-old admitted. And honestly? He’s not wrong. The Paul brothers didn’t just wake up one day and find themselves swimming in fame and fortune. They built their empire from the ground up. Jake Paul, much like his older brother, started off making Vine videos before diving into boxing. But that’s not all—he’s also landed major brand endorsements, invested in crypto, NFTs, and stocks, and co-founded Most Valuable Promotions in 2021 to help other fighters rise to the top. As for his YouTube career? Forbes named him one of the highest-paid YouTubers four times between 2017 and 2023—and it’s easy to see why. In 2017 alone, Jake Paul raked in $11.5 million just from YouTube. Fast forward to 2025, and The Street reports that his net worth has skyrocketed to a jaw-dropping $120 million.

Logan Paul, on the other hand, is a brand magnet. He’s got sponsorships and deals with HBO, Hanes, Dunkin’ Donuts, Nike, Verizon, and Pepsi. His YouTube channel boasts over 23 million subscribers, and his podcast, Impaulsive, has pulled in millions of listeners since 2018 across YouTube, Spotify, and Apple Podcasts. But here’s the kicker—his biggest payday isn’t from YouTube or even the WWE, where he’s been making serious moves. The real goldmine? Prime Hydration. Thanks to his energy drink brand, Logan Paul’s net worth has ballooned to $150 million.

The brothers have certainly hustled their way to the top, and Floyd Mayweather made sure to give them their flowers. But while he respects their grind, he also had something else to say about what he really wants from at least one of them.

Jake Paul would be easy work for Money Mayweather

In the same interview, even though he admitted that he respects their hard work and hustle, Floyd Mayweather shut down any talk of him avoiding a fight with the Problem Child. “We offered Jake Paul the fight probably 10 or 20 times, and he turned us down. So that’s bulls—,” Floyd Mayweather said. And just two weeks ago, while chatting with Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show, Money Mayweather didn’t hesitate when asked how a fight with Jake Paul would go. He only needed four words: “At 48, too easy.” The 50-0 boxer wants the fight. At least, that’s his side of the story. But Jake Paul? He tells a different tale.

Floyd “Money” Mayweather is dipping his toes into a unique sort of investment.

While Floyd “Money” Mayweather Jr. became a household name due to his legendary undefeated boxing career, his ability to maintain relevance in pop culture after retiring is owed to his notorious nickname.

It seems like with each day, there’s a new piece of news released that notes some money-related escapade, investment, or celebration that Mayweather is taking part in. And that was the case once again on March 12 with a unique Instagram post from the 15-time boxing world champion.

Mayweather announced a new slot game that’s named after him.

“You’ve seen me own the ring, now it’s your turn to play the Money Mayweather slot game! 💰 #AD
Big thanks to the team at Neon Valley Studios and @gamesglobalofficial for bringing this vision to life. I’m all about winning, and now, you have the chance too 🥊

Perhaps it should not come as a surprise that Mayweather is getting involved in a gambling app, as he’s a shrewd businessman who always has a knack for knowing where there’s more cash to be made.

It will be interesting to see how Mayweather continues to promote this app, and whether he shows any proof of him playing it himself. While he is known to place massive bets on sports games, there isn’t much evidence that he’s also fond of slot machines.

Although that doesn’t mean he can’t start a little bit late while doing so through the comfort of his own phone.

H eavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk has been ordered to start negotiations to defend his World Boxing Organization (WBO) heavyweight title against Joseph Parker.

The move could end British fighter Daniel Dubois’ hopes of a re-match with the Ukrainian.

The WBO announced Thursday that Usyk, who also holds the World Boxing

Council (WBC) and World Boxing Association (WBA) belts, has 30 days to “reach terms” for a mandatory title defence against New Zealand’s Parker or the governing body will call for purse bids.

Parker defended his WBO interim title in Riyadh last month with a second-round stoppage of Martin Bakole, a late replacement after Dubois withdrew because of illness.

Rather than reschedule his bout against Parker, International Boxing Federation (IBF) champion Dubois had hoped for a return clash with Usyk, who defeated the Briton by ninth-round knockout in August 2023.

Dubois re-established himself in the heavyweight ranks with stoppage wins over Jarrell Miller and Filip Hrgovic before most recently knocking out compatriot Anthony Joshua, himself a former world champion, at Wembley in September to take his professional record to 22 wins, with two losses and 21 knockouts.

The 27-year-old Dubois was understood to be in talks to face Usyk in a fight that would see all four major world heavyweight titles up for grabs but the WBO’s announcement has complicated the picture in a sport where the lack of a single global governing body means there are often multiple world champions in the same weight class.

Usyk defeated Britain’s Tyson Fury in May 2024 to become the first undisputed world heavyweight champion in almost 25 years. But he vacated his IBF belt before the rematch, with Dubois elevated to full champion.

Former undisputed world cruiserweight champion Usyk, 38, extended his perfect professional record to 23 wins in as many bouts, with 14 stoppages, after defeating Fury in a re-match in December that meant he retained the unified WBC, WBA and WBO championships.

While Usyk was speaking immediately after being declared the winner by unanimous decision, Dubois entered the ring and interrupted the London 2012 gold medallist’s interview to demand a bout.

But it appears Parker, who held the WBO title from 2016 to 2018 and is on a six-fight winning streak since losing to Joe Joyce in 2022, has overtaken Dubois as the next contender to face Usyk.

In February, Usyk said he planned to have two more fights before retiring.

Tyson Fury and Wayne Rooney will co-manage the England team at Soccer Aid’s charity match this summer, with the former heavyweight world champion coming out of retirement

Boxing titan Tyson Fury is set to co-manage the England team alongside former Manchester Unitedstar Wayne Rooney for Soccer Aid’s benevolent match, supporting Unicef’s mission for children.

Rooney, who is 39 and a veteran England marksman, is gearing up to grace the field once again in the annual charity clash. Although he declared his departure from boxing earlier this year, the 36 year old Gypsy King hasn’t ruled out the possibility of strutting his stuff on the pitch during the event.

Speaking with vim and vigor, Fury announced: “Tyson Fury: England manager. Who would ever have thought it?” He continued, “I have had some big fights in my career and the prospect of leading my England team to victory this June fills me with just as much excitement as any heavyweight Fight.

The iconic boxer, an ardent fan of The Red Devils, expressed extra delight for the game’s location: “Everyone knows that I am a huge Manchester United fan too, so it’s even more special for me that the game is at Old Trafford this year – and I get to manage one of my heroes, Wayne Rooney. How can we lose?”

Emphasizing the charitable aspect, he added, “The work Unicef does all around the world is so special and so important. I really hope that you can come along and support us this summer

Beyoncé has come under fire from fans due to the price of her upcoming “Cowboy Carter” tour tickets.

Many have taken to social media to slam her as “greedy” amid reports claiming the tour is struggling to sell tickets.

An industry expert gave an explanation for what he perceived to be the issue, stating that many of Beyoncé’s fans spent their money to see her two years ago.

Beyoncé’s ‘Pricey’ Tour Tickets Raise Eyebrows

Beyoncé’s highly anticipated “Cowboy Carter” tour has sparked outrage among fans, who are expressing their frustration over the steep ticket prices.

The “Drunk In Love” singer is set to perform across North America and Europe, including six nights at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London from June 5 to June 16.

Tickets for the show reportedly range from $93 to $1,231 (£71.60 to £950), including fees, with a per-order handling fee of $4 (£2.75).

However, weeks after the tickets went live, it appears she has suffered low patronage, with pop culture account Pop Stuff claiming that “the tour has barely sold out 3/30 shows.”

The account also shared a photo of the news outlet, NewsNation‘s article, with the headline, “Beyoncé Cowboy Carter tour not selling tickets.”

Many fans took to social media to vent their frustrations, as some branded the singer “greedy.”

“She should think of her poor fans and lower the prices. Ain’t like she ain’t a billionaire already,” another person said.

A third fan noted, “Beyoncé not selling standing tickets for less than £220. She is a scammer just like Ticketmaster!!! YES, I did say that.”

However, many Beyhives have risen to the singer’s defense to address reports that her concerts aren’t selling.

She’s making her own name in academics, not on the fairway

When your dad is Tiger Woods, the world assumes you’ll have a golf club in your hand before you can walk. And while that’s true for her younger brother, Charlie, Sam Woods has always played by her own rules.

Sports were always a big part of Sam’s life-but not golf. She found her passion on the soccer field, and she just capped off her high school career in the best way possible: leading The Benjamin School to its first-ever Florida state championship. On March 1, Sam, a defensive powerhouse and team captain, helped secure a hard-fought 1-0 victory over the Episcopal School of Jacksonville. It was a perfect ending to her time as an athlete.

From the field to the classroom

But now, she’s stepping into a new chapter-one that has nothing to do with athletics. Sam is heading to Stanford University in the fall, following in her father’s footsteps in name only. While Tiger’s time at Stanford was all about golf, Sam is going for the academics, with interests in psychology and biology.

“She’s going to Stanford in the fall, so everything is really trending,” Tiger confirmed, per Golf Digest. Though the university boasts one of the best golf programs in the country, Sam won’t be part of it. She’s charting her own course-one that involves labs and lectures, not fairways and bunkers.

Her decision makes one thing clear: being a Woods doesn’t mean being a golfer. Sam is proving that the family name isn’t just synonymous with golf greatness-it can stand for excellence in whatever path you choose.

A Different Kind of Bond with Dad

Sam and her dad have always shared a strong connection, but their bond wasn’t built on the game that defined Tiger’s career. In fact, she’s been open about the fact that golf took her dad away a lot when she was younger, creating a bit of a disconnect. But over the years, they’ve found common ground in other ways. Whether she was caddying for him at the PNC Championship or delivering a heartfelt speech at his Hall of Fame induction, she’s always been in his corner.

Unlike Charlie, who is fully embracing the pressure of carrying on the Woods golf legacy, Sam has opted out-and Tiger completely supports it. Instead of pushing her toward the sport, he’s simply proud to see her forge her own way. And as she prepares for life at Stanford, it’s clear she’s doing just that.

“She’s flawless”

While Gabrielle was starstruck by the idea of getting to support the ‘Hello’ star, Adele later fangirled on stage about having Gabrielle supporting her.

“The fact that even when she went on stage she was talking about me, again, you can’t ever take this away from me,” Gabrielle gushed.

She also revealed that the ‘Set Fire to the Rain’ singer was watching her sets from backstage while getting ready to perform later.

“So many great things happened that year, but to be on that stage, to actually have her [watching] my stage in rollers with my sound guys!” the ‘Dreams’ singer reminisced, still in disbelief.

“I thought: ‘This woman is amazing. Just doing her own thing, rocking out and just chilling and singing along.’”

Asked if she’d support Adele again at a concert, Gabrielle sweetly replied she thinks she’d be too nervous to open again for the “flawless” but “down to earth” singer.

“If I ever had to support her again I’d be like: ‘No I can’t, because I’m too scared!’ She was incredible, but I don’t think I can do it twice because she was so amazing!”

Dreams can come true

Gabrielle last toured the UK in 2023 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of her fan-favourite track ‘Dreams’.

The song will be turning 33 years old this year, and the singer will still be proudly belting it out every evening for her fans.

“The idea of not adding ‘Dreams’ to my repertoire of songs… If you ever heard of that happening, I think you’d have to question if it really was me!” she told Angie, laughing.

Another much-loved Gabrielle hit is ‘Out of Reach’, the song she composed for the first Bridget Jones film in 2001.

After being cryptically gifted the book by her label’s boss, the artist was delighted to be asked to write a song for the film.

“Instantly I knew what I was going to write about, because the memory, the characters were so fresh in my mind,” Gabrielle recalled.

“I’m happy that [Out of Dreams] forever will be associated with that franchise, because I’m really proud of it and I love the response [it gets].”

“They keep me grounded”

The singer is also forever grateful for the love her fans have shown her over the years.

“As a menopausal middle-aged woman, when there are times I’m looking like: ‘What is happening?’ and you just want to walk away from everything… You’re brought down to earth when you start connecting with your audience,” she shared.

“When they’re speaking to you, when they’re telling you about what your music has meant to them in their lives…

“All of these things keep me grounded, make me emotional, but realise I’m doing the best thing that I love doing, and I have the best response and the most amazing, fabulous audience, and that’s why I’m doing this all again,” Gabrielle gushed.
