FLINT, Mich. (WJRT) – In front of a raucous crowd at Dort Financial Center in Flint, Claressa Shields put on a dazzling display on her way to a unanimous decision victory.
Shields dropped her opponent, Danielle Perkins, twice in the third and 10th rounds.
With the win, Shields becomes the first-ever undisputed heavyweight champion in women’s boxing, as well as the first boxer to earn the title of undisputed champion in three different weight classes.
Shields said she was moved by her city’s support.
“They accept me … and I just love them so much for that,” Shields said.
